Again But Different

There’s no doubt that autumn symbolizes a healthy example of change, and more importantly letting go.

Life is so much like seasons, and I’m sure you can relate to “feeling like summer” or having the “winter blues.” But honestly, fall to me has always been something that when embraced, can really bring a great harvest and a feeling of relief.

If you think about it, each year we get the pleasure of experiencing the beauty of season change (in most parts of the world maybe not so much.) But, since I live in Nashville, TN and grew up in NY, I get the small luxury of seeing spring, summer, winter and fall every year.

Call me crazy (most do) but, besides being beautiful visually and experiencing physical changes, there is something that changes in the air each season. Spring is a great time to plant seeds, or new ideas. Summer is a great time to work on those ideas and to help them to grow. And, here we land in fall where we harvest those ideas, and plan for a winter ahead. Where hopefully, we get to sit back and relax and enjoy the fruits of our labor.

How has this year been different from last? 2020 has been a show to say the least, but when we focus on controlling the environment we live in instead of letting it control us I think we would have a much better chance at a bigger harvest season. (And not just all the pumpkin spice at your local Trader Joes.)

Embrace the season! Plant ideas and watch them grow. Don’t forget about them, and remember to show them love — notice how far you’ve come. This isn’t your typical new years resolution but rather a more natural flow of life with the seasons. The good news is that you can always do it differently next year, or, just plant the same thing again — it’s up to you!
